Cookie policy

Which cookies this site uses, what each one is for and how to change them.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on an internet user’s device when they visit a website. It is the website operator who decides what kind of information that cookie holds and what it is for, and it can also be used by the web server each time you visit that page. Cookies are used to save time and make browsing much more efficient. That said, they can be used for several different purposes, such as remembering your login details or what your shopping order contains.

  • First-party cookies: those sent to the user’s device from a machine or domain managed by the publisher itself, from which the service requested by that user is provided.
  • Third-party cookies: those sent to the user’s device from a machine or domain not managed by the publisher but by another organisation that processes the data obtained through the cookies.
  • Session cookies: a type of cookie designed to collect and store data while the user is on a website.
  • Persistent cookies: a type of cookie in which the data stays stored on the device and can be accessed and processed over a period set by the party responsible for the cookie, which can run from a few minutes to several years.
  • Technical cookies: those that let the user move around a website, platform or application and use the different options or services on it, such as controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, reaching restricted areas, remembering the items in an order, going through the checkout process, applying to sign up for or take part in an event, using security features while browsing, storing content for broadcasting video or audio, or sharing content through social networks.
  • Personalisation cookies: those that let the user reach the service with certain general characteristics predefined by a set of criteria on the user’s device, such as the language, the type of browser used to reach the service, the regional settings it is reached from, and so on.
  • Analytics cookies: those that let the party responsible for them track and analyse the behaviour of the users of the websites they are linked to, including measuring the impact of adverts. The information gathered through this type of cookie is used to measure activity on the website, application or platform, in order to make improvements based on the analysis of how users use the service.
  • Behavioural advertising cookies: those that store information about user behaviour obtained by continuously observing their browsing habits, which makes it possible to build a specific profile and show advertising based on it.

Which cookies does SAMBAS THE BAMBAS use?

The technical ones and the payment ones are always set, because without them you cannot buy. The analytics ones and the marketing ones are only set if you accept them, each on its own, and you can change your mind whenever you like.

Technical cookies:

  • cmplz_banner-status, cmplz_functional, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_marketing, cmplz_consented_services and cmplz_policy_id: they store what you decided in the cookie notice, so we do not ask you again. Persistent. Duration: 1 year.
  • wp_woocommerce_session_[hash]: gives your cart a unique code so we can recognise it. Persistent. Duration: 2 days.
  • woocommerce_cart_hash and woocommerce_items_in_cart: they detect and store changes in the cart. Session.
  • wordpress_[hash], wordpress_sec_[hash] and wordpress_logged_in_[hash]: only if you have an account and log in. They keep you signed in. Session. Necessary.
  • wp-postpass_[hash]: stores access to password-protected pages, if there are any. Persistent. Duration: 10 days.

Payment cookies:

They are set by Stripe, one of our payment providers, to detect fraud. They appear on the pages where you can pay: product page, cart and checkout.

  • __stripe_mid: identifies your browser across visits for the fraud check. Persistent. Duration: 1 year.
  • __stripe_sid: the same, within a single visit. Duration: 30 minutes.
  • m (from m.stripe.com): Stripe fraud check. Persistent. Duration: 13 months.
  • __cf_bm, __cflb and hmt_id (from hcaptcha.com): Stripe uses hCaptcha to tell a person from a bot at checkout. The first two are session cookies; hmt_id lasts 30 days.

Analytics cookies (only if you accept them):

They are used to count how many people come in and which pages they look at. They are set by Google Analytics.

  • _ga and _ga_F0D3G1QCXF: they tell one visitor from another so we can count visits and page views. Persistent. Duration: 13 months.

We have Google Analytics advertising signals switched off, so this data is not used to target ads. You can read how Google handles your data in its privacy policy.

Marketing cookies (only if you accept them):

  • _fbp: set by the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram). It is used to measure which ads bring visits and orders. Persistent. Duration: 3 months.
  • sbjs_first, sbjs_current, sbjs_first_add, sbjs_current_add, sbjs_session, sbjs_udata and sbjs_migrations: set by WooCommerce, they store where you came from when you arrived, so we know which link or ad brings orders. Session.
  • MailerLite, the tool we send our emails with: if you accept, your browser connects to static.mailerlite.com, which receives your IP address and lets us recognise you if you arrive from one of our emails.

If you accept nothing, none of these are set and the website does not connect to Google, to Meta or to MailerLite.

Maps and other third-party services

The stockists page has a map drawn by OpenStreetMap, a service run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. To draw it, your browser connects to tile.openstreetmap.org, which receives your IP address and the data any browser sends when it requests an image.

The map is not loaded until you accept it. Until then you will see a notice with a button to show it. The list of shops, with their addresses and contact details, is fully visible without loading the map and without accepting anything.

On a computer you also have a fixed button in the bottom right, “Manage consent”, which reopens the notice from any page.

How are cookies managed?

As cookies are ordinary text files, they can be examined with most text editors or word processors. You can click on a cookie to open it. Below is a list of links on how to view cookies in different browsers. If you use another browser, look up the cookie information in that browser. If you are on a mobile phone, check the device manual for more information.

Turning cookies off and on, or deleting them:

To restrict or block cookies, you do so through the browser settings.

If you would rather websites did not put any cookies on your device, you can change your browser settings so that you are notified before any cookie is placed. In the same way, you can set the browser to reject all cookies, or only third-party ones. You can also delete any cookies already on the device. Bear in mind that you will have to change the settings separately on each browser and device you use.

Bear in mind that if you do not want to receive cookies, we can no longer guarantee that our website works properly. Some features may be lost and you may no longer be able to see certain websites. Rejecting cookies does not mean you will stop seeing adverts. The adverts simply will not match your interests and will repeat more often.
